Bookie's Roles & Responsibilities
Welcome To Leadership
Thank you for your contributions to TNT and helping us grow our organization! You've been selected as your chapter's bookie. Please read the responsibilities for this position below. This page will cover what is expected of you during your time in this leadership role and give you some pointers for getting started in leadership.
As bookie, you're responsible for explaining how the group does their business each week. A good bookie has a detailed explanation of the outside meeting slips and referral slips and how to fill each out as well as a summary of the business card book and reminds member's to make sure their pages are full.
What Do Bookies Do
- Maintain the Business Card Book. Repair any issues or damaged pages as needed.
- Pass the business card book around the room and make sure only members are adding their cards.
- Make sure all member's pages are full with cards, call them out to refill them if needed.
- Explain the outside meeting slips and referral slips each week.
- If your chapter uses an additional form for 60 second votes, you can speak of that as well.
Business Card Book
Your chapter will have a business card book filled with pages of business cards from each of the members. Only members can have their cards in the book, but members and visitors are encouraged to take all the cards they need from the book. Members should keep their pages full for this reason.
The book should always be moving around the room, and should be passed along with the 60 second star after presentations.
Meeting Slips
The business moves through the group via referral and outside meeting slips. Make sure you explain how each slip is to be filled out and handled.
Referral slips is what drives the success of networking. Passing business back and forth, giving new leads and introductions, or just offering support is why we are looking to network. Take the time to explain what a hot, warm and cold lead is and how members can increase the close rate of the referral with a warm introduction.
Outside meetings drive connection between members and visitors. Make sure you cover what qualifies as an outside meeting and what doesn't and encourage the group to have business minded conversations to maximize their time investments.
Topics To Cover
As mentioned on the leadership page, the bookie is the position that explains the dynamic of the meeting to members and visitors.
Important topics to cover during this time are
- What the book is, who can put cards in the book, who can take cards from the book and making sure the pages are full. Some chapters use the business card book to vote for their 60 second star, and if that is the case for you, you will cover that as well.
- The importance of outside meetings and how to to report them via Outside Meeting Slips. Make sure to include that phone calls and zooms can be an outside meeting, meeting with more than one person in one meeting is only one meeting, visiting other chapters/subbing are reported here as well as any visitors you invited to other chapters.
- The reason we are all meeting, referrals and referral slips. Make sure you cover how referrals can be passed each week prior to the meeting, but that members need to track them on referral slips.
- If your chapter uses an additional form for 60 second votes, you can speak of that as well.
Example Bookie Script
Good Morning/afternoon 'TNT Chapter'
*Hold up the book* This is our chapter business card book. This is where members of our chapter keep their business cards fully stocked so that way members and visitors alike can take as many cards as they may need each week.
Visitors are not able to put their cards into the book until they become a member, but you are encouraged to pass your cards around during the time in which we highlight you.
We do ask everyone to make sure that the book continues to move around the room throughout the meeting.
After we have gone through and highlighted all of our members, we ask that everyone, including visitors, use the book to vote for their favorite 60 second spotlight. That member will win our coveted 60 second trophy. (Only applicable in certain chapters)
*Pick up the Outside Meeting Slip* In TNT, we value to importance of building relationship so much so, that we prioritize outside meetings and not referrals. This is because when your networking partners know, like and trust you, you are more likely to see the quality, money making referrals you are asking for. When you take the time to meet, and make sure your fellow members know how your business is operating, who you are helping and what new services or products you are offering, the better they can refer you. It is simple, the more meetings you have, the more referrals you will get. If you meet with more then one person during a meeting, please note that is still only one meeting. If you visited another chapter or subbed in another chapter, you can fill that out on here as well as report any visitors that you invited and they attended another chapter.
*Pick up the Referral Slip* We award points for and have outside meeting requirements, because we know why you are here, and what income producing activities you need to be doing to succeed in getting these referral slips. Use this slip to pass referrals to your networking partners. There is a place to pass the contact information on, along with cold, warm or hot. Now a cold lead would be passing on a FSBO house to the realtor, but your neighbor telling you their spouse was relocated and needs to list their home ASAP and they asked you if you knew a guy is a HOT lead.
Now in the day and age of technology, we want to help our partners close the deals we are sending to them. to help increase their chances by 86%, connect your referral with your partner via text, email or in person. We know that a lot of our referrals are passed during the 166 hours of the week when we are not meeting, or on social media, so please make sure you are reporting them in the meeting as we do track them.
Lastly, we have our 60 second voting slip. After we have gone through and highlighted all of our members, we ask that everyone, including visitors, use this to vote for your favorite 60 second spotlight. That member will win our coveted 60 second trophy. (Only applicable in some chapters)
